New York Sports Betting Sets April Record With $2.17 Billion Handle

New York's mobile sportsbooks handled a record $2.17 billion in wagers in April 2026, according to state-reported figures — the highest April on record for the market. Gross gaming revenue came in at $244.1 million, an 11.28% hold, which translates to roughly $124.5 million in state tax at New York's nation-high 51% rate.

The total extends a remarkable run for the four-year-old market. April's handle topped the $2.15 billion the state took in April 2025, and revenue climbed sharply year over year from $192.7 million.

FanDuel and DraftKings Still Lead

FanDuel and DraftKings continued to control the bulk of New York's handle and revenue, with Caesars, BetMGM and BetRivers rounding out the upper tier. New York taxes operator gross gaming revenue at 51% — the highest rate in the United States — with the proceeds directed primarily to education.

New York remains the largest regulated sports betting market in the country by handle, a position it has held since launching mobile wagering in January 2022.
